Welcoming New Retailers and Businesses to U/D This Fall
Join a class at Lagree YYC, a fitness studio that focuses on slow, controlled movements using a special piece of equipment called the Megaformer, now open at their new location in University District. For your convenience, Stephen Cleaners is ready to handle your alterations, offering exceptional dry cleaning, repairs, and laundry services. You can also visit Flowers & Beyond, a local flower shop featuring a fine selection of fresh-cut flowers and unique custom arrangements with same-day delivery. Now accepting new clients is Bronze Baxx Luxury Tanning and Wellness. They offer state-of-the-art tanning along with cryotherapy, spray tans, infrared saunas, Ballancer Pro, red light therapy and hydration stations. Another recent addition to University District is FARMOR ARCHITECTURE. The award-winning boutique studio has extensive experience in designing multi-residential buildings such as townhouses and mid-rise apartment buildings, as well as commercial retail and office projects. University District is proud to have these incredible retailers and businesses serving our community.
10 New Retailers Set to Open this Year
Looking ahead to this fall, several new retailers are set to open their doors. Among them is Shoppers Drug Mart, anticipated to open in September, which will serve University District and their patrons with pharmacy services and everyday essentials. Also keep an eye out for Easy Blink Optometry, who will be ready to schedule your appointment for vision therapy, dry eye treatment and annual eye check-ups.
Exciting new services and retail stores are coming your way later this fall and early next year! Look out for Pho Pham, where you can savour the authentic flavours of Vietnamese cuisine, or enjoy delicious Italian food at UNA pizza + wine, joining Connie and John’s as another delicious option for pizza. Native Tongues Taqueria will soon be serving bold, traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist, and health-conscious foodies will love the fresh, nutritious meals from Seed N Salt, also set to open in U/D in the coming months.
Those looking to find their zen will appreciate the upcoming Hot Yoga on University District location, offering invigorating hot yoga sessions. Swish Oral Care, focused on creating anxiety-free dental experiences with services ranging from general cleanings to cosmetic procedures, is already accepting patients on their waitlist.
Later this fall, University District Vet Clinic will open its doors, providing top-notch veterinary care in a state-of-the-art facility, along with Servus Credit Union offering financial services to community members.
Fall 2024 Events
University District has expanded with the arrival of new retailers and residents during the past year, and the three-acre Central Commons Park is bustling with activity. With so many new additions, the U/D Block Party provides the ideal setting for fostering community ties and discovering everything that the neighbourhood has to offer.
The event will also be raising funds for I Can for Kids, a Calgary-based charity tackling food insecurity. University District will match up to $5,000 in donations collected through partnerships and activations with Save-On-Foods and University District Dental.
Join us on September 15th from 1 – 4 p.m. for the U/D Block Party, an afternoon of live music, performers, family-friendly activities and promotions from your favourite retailers.
You still have an opportunity to attend our last U/D Night Market of the season on September 25th from 5-9 p.m. at Central Commons Park. Don’t miss out on browsing incredible local vendors and listening to the talented Earl Stevenson and The Rondel Roberts Band.
On September 29, The Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) Hustle for the House run/walk will be taking place at U/D! Register and join your friends, family and coworkers at Central Commons Park for a walk or run of 1km, 5km or 10km to support RMHC. The Ronald McDonald House is a beloved neighbour that offers vital services to our community and families throughout the province, a cause we are proud to support.
