The Perfect Easter at University District

March 26, 2024

Believe it or not, Easter is right around the corner and U/D is prepared to make your planning easy! Whether you’re hunting for Easter chocolates or planning enjoyable Easter outings, you’ll find everything conveniently located in University District.  Here are some egg-cited retailers ready to support you through your Easter preparations:

Save-On-Foods

Don’t let any bunny go hungry this Easter! Conveniently located on University Avenue, Save-On-Foods has everything you need, from Easter chocolates and treats to essential dinner ingredients.

Feelin’ snacky? Save-On-Foods has a large selection of pre-made charcuterie platters and snack plates to complement your Easter celebrations! For the simplest—and most delicious—Easter meal this year, we recommend the pre-cooked barbeque chicken, the Save-On-Foods Backyard BBQ coleslaw and Bake Shop dinner buns. Stop by to see all they have to offer as you plan holiday visits with family and friends.

Market Wines

While on Retail Main Street, hop over to Market Wines for the best selection of beverages for your long weekend fun! As an independent wine shop that features artisanal wines from small producers, they’re the experts in recommending a unique wine that pairs perfectly with your meal.

Market Wines has an incredible selection of wines, spirits, craft beers and non-alcoholic options for your next special occasion.

Brunch at OEB

Easter eggs aren’t just chocolate this year! With dishes from the Classic Breakfast to breakfast poutines and indulgent French toast, OEB in University District is ready to serve you a farm-fresh Easter breakfast! Dedicated to ensuring your breakfast is perfect, we’re certain OEB is where the Easter Bunny is going for Easter breakfast, too.

Stop by OEB University District for a celebratory breakfast.

Easter Dinner at Borough Bar & Grill

This year, have your Easter Sunday dinner at Borough Bar & Grill, where you can enjoy Prime Rib Sunday starting at 5 p.m. until quantities last, so be sure to get there early. Celebrating on Easter Monday? Enjoy Borough’s $6 Happy Hour menu from 2-5 pm and again from 9 pm until late or $10 Double Monday Margaritas. Why cook when you could enjoy Easter dinner stress-free at Borough Bar & Grill?

Fuwa Fuwa:

Did you know that Fuwa Fuwa means “Fluffy Fluffy?” What could be more fitting for Easter? Plus, Fuwa Fuwa has a new limited-edition Easter Pancake! Fuwa Fuwa’s newest souffle pancake is topped with little chocolate eggs, fresh cream, an assortment of fruit, and chocolate sauce. Only available until Easter, head to Fuwa Fuwa in U/D and try this decadent Easter-themed delicacy.

Village Ice Cream

Village Ice Cream has Easter dessert covered this year with four delicious seasonal spring flavours! If spring has you craving fruity flavours, Mango is the perfect spring choice! For something unique, try a cone of the beautiful and delicious Strawberry Matcha—the perfect blend of strawberry jam and green tea. Need a pick-me-up? Try a scoop of the vegan and gluten-friendly Iced Capp flavour inspired by Tim Horton’s classic drink! Or try the Banana Toffee Crunch, inspired by the classic dessert Banoffee Pie. None of these flavours springing out at you? Stick to your usual with any of Village Ice Cream’s “Always Flavours,” which are available year-round.

Be sure to check out the other retailers in U/D to see what they might have going on ahead of Easter!

Easter Activities at Home

Looking to stay home this Easter? No problem! University District can help you celebrate from the comfort of your home. Distract the kids with Easter colouring pages.

Tired of the usual Easter egg hunt? Try some of these fun Easter games perfect for the whole family to enjoy. You might even create a new Easter tradition!

Bunny Tag: A childhood favourite with a twist! It’s like regular tag, but everyone must hop like a bunny instead of running.

Pin the Tail on the Bunny: Instead of pinning the tail on the donkey, try this Easter-themed alternative. All you need is a picture of a bunny, a cut-out of a bunny tail, something to cover your eyes and tape.

Find the U/D Easter Eggs

There’s a lot that makes University District special, but have you ever noticed any of the unique U/D “Easter Eggs” scattered throughout the community? Some of the colourful art installations have hidden U/D’s in their designs. See if you can pick any of them out on your next visit. Get in the Easter spirit and take yourself on an Easter hunt through U/D.
