Green Spine

The backbone of the community, the Green Spine connects University District from North to South. On the southeastern boundary of U/D, this linear park serves as a naturalized landmark for the southern neighbourhood and links to the Central Park, main street and neighbourhood commons parks. Accented with unique plants and highlighted by a gathering place for pedestrians, this linear park is a primary trail junction for the neighbourhood, offering residents and visitors access to dynamic and open natural spaces and breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and nearby Bow River.

South Pond

With over two acres of surrounding open green space and pathway that connects to the community ‘green spine’, the South Pond captures the essence of Alberta’s natural wetlands while functioning as a naturalized stormwater management oasis. From an island that acts as a watershed for seasonal birds to a quaint gazebo with a seating area to take in captivating landscape views, this neighbourhood favourite is a popular stop for anyone looking for a picnic spot, a walking retreat or quiet escape. Lookout Parks

We’ve got views for days. Placed along the southern edge of the site to optimize on the impressive scenic views, the Lookout Parks act as awe-inspiring viewpoints to take in the panorama of the Rocky Mountains up the Bow River Valley to Edworthy park.  They’re as impressive in the day as they are at dusk: these parks are a delightful stopping point for any explorer wanting to catch a glimpse of a unique Calgary chinook arch or an iconic Alberta sunset.

Central Commons Park

Central Commons Park is the green space at the heart of the community. Mindfully made for year-round cultural, social and recreational events and adventures, the park is a seasonless signature destination with ways for any visitor to explore and engage.

Complete with a central plaza lined with street-level retailers, quaint cafes, and landmark features, the Central Commons Park is the perfect home for community celebrations of all manner: picnics, fitness challenges, summer markets, winter ice skating, a stroll along the pathways on a warm spring evening or a cycle through the colourful tapestry of changing leaves in the fall. Common Parks

There’s nothing common about these common spaces. Three multi-purpose open spaces speckled around the community, the parks encourage play for all ages. Two in the north residential neighbourhoods and one in the south, they’re strategically placed to grow, shift and evolve with the community. From kicking around a soccer ball to climbing in a playground oasis, or silently soaking in the sunshine, the parks balance open space with amenities for play and places to perch or rest. Dog Parks

Our urban dog parks give your furry friends a reason to love the community as much as you do. Completely contained, these unique parks are dedicated off-leash ‘pooch playgrounds’ designed to be safe, accessible and enjoyable exercise areas for dogs and owners residing in the neighbourhood. From pup play dates to parading your pooch on Halloween costume night, the urban dog parks are perfect for getting to know your neighbours, connecting with friends, meeting local dog walkers and canine enthusiasts. Conveniently located close to home, conversations in the dog parks will be as diverse as the breeds coming out to play.

North Pond

The gateway to the northwest corner of the community, the North Pond is where function and beauty meet. Just shy of two acres, the north pond area is an elevated green space designed as a purpose-built stormwater pond. From a lookout feature with stunning views and a tiered bench wall as the backdrop to the pond, to a naturalized tree grove that wraps the western edge of the urban dog park, it amazes passersby, serving as a space for inspiration and connection, and a green feature for the whole community.
