Our Discovery Centre continues to follow all health and safety guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. We remain committed to contributing to the health and safety of the wider community in which we operate.

Update: Northwestival Cancellation

In response to new restrictions set forth by the government to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, we made the decision to cancel this year’s Northwestival event. The health and well-being of our community is our greatest priority.

In an effort to maintain the ‘spirit’ of our festival, our Snowman Avenue display will be assembled
at our Discovery Centre so that residents, nearby healthcare staff and visitors to University District
can enjoy some holiday cheer.

Help us give back

Part of the Northwestival experience is our partnership with the local charitable organization I Can For Kids. The organization was started in 2015 by, Sutton Garner, now 16, who after learning about the devastating impact of summer childhood hunger, was moved to create an opportunity to provide children and youth in Calgary with healthy food during the summer months. An inspiring demonstration of leadership, this young lady took the initiative to fill a critical gap in services here in our community.

With the unfortunate cancellation of Northwestival this year, we wanted to find a way to still show our support for this incredible initiative. In the past, admission to Northwestival was a jar of peanut butter in support of I Can For Kids. This year we are encouraging those who can support to donate on the charitable organization’s digital platforms and indicate the donation is for peanut butter.

Together even without Northwestival we can warm up to winter and help make a positive impact to the local community!
