University District’s Free, Outdoor U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition Returns

The U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition brings magic, shopping and entertainment for the whole family to kick off the holiday season.

University District will be hosting the holiday edition of its popular outdoor U/D Night Market series on Thursday, November 27 and Thursday, December 4 at Central Commons Park, located between Borough Bar + Grill and The Banquet in University District. Each event brings a unique offering of entertainment and activities.

What: U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition will include artisan vendors selling goods ahead of the holiday season as well as DJs and holiday roaming characters for attendees to enjoy. Skate rentals from Skate Hut will be available on-site for skating on the U/D Ice Rink.

The following entertainment will also be available:

November 27, 2025:

• A tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The first 300 guests will receive jingle bells to help ring in the magic.
• Performances from The Calgary Stampede Showband Drumline.
• Holiday roaming characters sparking joy.

December 4, 2025:

• A 50-foot heated igloo with complimentary hot drinks.
• Free, kid-friendly crafting stations.
• Professional figure skating performances on the U/D Ice Rink starting at 6:20 p.m.

Where: University District’s Central Commons Park (nestled between Borough Bar + Grill and The Banquet).  A link to the park’s location is here.

When: Thursday, November 27 and Thursday, December 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Who: Interviews with a spokesperson from University District will be available on-site between 5 – 7 p.m. The opportunity to take B-roll of Calgarians enjoying the festive season and skating rink will also be available.
