Calgarians Invited to Enjoy Outdoor Fun at University District’s Winter Pop-Up

The Winter Pop-Up invites attendees to take their try at sledge hockey, along with other free activities and entertainment.

University District (U/D) is hosting its annual Winter Pop-Up event on Sunday, January 25, 2026, bringing Calgarians together at Central Commons Park.

What: The Winter Pop-Up invites guests of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of seasonal entertainment and hands-on experiences. Attendees can warm up with complimentary s’mores for roasting (while supplies last) and enjoy live music from DJ GOODBAR. The event will also feature a live ice-carving demonstration from local artist Julian Lee, adding a wonderful winter experience for the whole family to enjoy. Guests are also welcome to hit the ice at the University District’s outdoor rink, bringing their own skates or renting a pair on-site from Skate Hut. In addition, U/D retailer AdaptAbility will host a sledge hockey demonstration, offering a fun, interactive introduction to adaptive sports and their impact. AdaptAbility is an integral part of the community offering special needs products, mobility devices and classroom aids, fostering U/D’s vision to be accessible, innovative and inclusive.

When: Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 1 – 4 p.m.

Who: Spokespeople from both University District and AdaptAbility will be on-site and available for media interviews and b-roll opportunities between 1 and 2:30 p.m.
