Get ready Calgary! The U/D Night Market is back for another summer of fun. In partnership with Marketspot, this event brings together a dynamic lineup of local vendors and live entertainment for an unforgettable evening experience. Whether you’re a returning visitor or a first-time attendee, the U/D Night Market offers something for everyone. 

Also happening this spring are the Show Suite Open Houses. Featuring U/D builder partners Crystal Creek Homes, Jayman BUILT and Rohit Homes, guests can enjoy a series of entertainment while exploring the amazing residential offerings available at University District. 

U/D Night Market – Summer Series

Our popular U/D Night Market will return this year on the last Wednesday of each month from May to September, from 5 to 9 PM at Central Commons Park. Each event will feature a variety of local vendors for attendees to shop, as well as a series of unique and engaging entertainment for guests to enjoy.

May 28 Event Schedule & Entertainment

We are kicking off the season with Joash Charles, who will open the stage at each U/D Night Market. Joash is a Calgary-based DJ known for mixing instrumental blends with clever wordplay. Next in the lineup is Duke Domino, a Calgary-based singer-songwriter known for his jazz, blues, rock and pop-inspired sound.  The Jason Circus Variety Show delivers high-impact entertainment wrapped in playful, family-friendly comedy. Jason’s show is filled with circus stunts, dazzling feats of coordination, and jaw-dropping balance acts. Rounding out the evening is Southwest Electric, a four-piece rock ‘n’ roll band that fuses the grit of electric blues with the soul of southern rock, alt-country, Americana and folk. Known for their raw energy and tight musicianship, they deliver a live show that hits hard and lingers long after the last note.

Kick off the Stampede season early at the June 25th U/D Night Market with a high-energy performance by the Chinook Country Line Dancers, a popular favourite! These talented ladies will put a smile on your face and have you tapping your toes. Then, get ready for some hands-on fun as Mad Science takes the stage, blending theatrical flair with interactive experiments to keep young audiences engaged from start to finish. Finally, don’t miss The Wine Soaked Preachers, a four-piece Calgary-based roots band serving up gritty Alberta-soaked tales and a signature western noir sound.

Toast the night when the Wine Soaked Preachers hit the stage at 8 p.m.

The July U/D Night Market is packed with incredible local talent. The evening features ZENON, an alternative R&B artist known for soulful vocals, a genre-blending sound and bold rhythmic choices. Malcolm’s Magic Show will amaze audiences of all ages with a mix of sleight of hand, mind-reading and mentalism. Rounding out the lineup, The Sunstrokes bring a high-energy performance that fuses funk, Latin, metal and R&B influences into a unique modern rock sound.

Brett Cassidy kicks off the evening with a guitar and banjo in hand, crafting songs that echo tradition while getting audiences stomping along to his suitcase kick drum. Next, be dazzled by the Safire’s Hula Hoop Show, a lively blend of comedy and hoop mastery that’s as skillful as it is entertaining. Closing out the night, Luc Roach & the Electric Band will hit the stage, to deliver a fresh jolt of blues-inspired rock.

The Global Pet Foods SuperDogs™ are set to take the stage twice on the final evening of the 2025 U/D Night Market series.

Wrapping up the final evening of the 2025 U/D Night Market, The Global Pet Foods SuperDogs™ take the stage not once, but twice! This tail-wagging, action-packed show stars adorable four-legged performers who leap, race and dazzle with tricks that are sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Next up is Bloco Vivo, a must-see high-octane street band with a passion for the big, boisterous music of northeastern Brazil. Closing out the season with a bang, The Frontiers will deliver a dynamic performance filled with original songs and catchy covers that blend pop, soul, rock, folk and country influences.

The Show Suite Open Houses aim to help you discover why University District is the perfect place to start the next chapter of your life. Explore the community’s unique features and amenities, ask questions and enjoy tasty baked goods provided by Black Sheep Pâtisserie. Sip on themed mocktails like Rose Lemonade and Hibiscus Spritz, along with other complimentary beverages to refresh your afternoon. 

Be sure to arrive early! The first 150 guests will receive a handcrafted vase filled with fresh, seasonal flowers to take home.

June 28 Open House – Mingles & Melodies: Celebrating Sinatra

Enjoy a live performance from the Calgary Jazz Orchestra in an open, social atmosphere with light bites and a laid-back vibe while connecting with U/D’s builder partners. Black Sheep Pâtisserie will offer a self-serve artisan tasting station inspired by French and Italian summer markets, while the beverage station includes a variety of refreshing waters and Wildfolk mocktail-inspired drinks for guests to enjoy.
