2020 is set to be a big year in University District. Many residents are feeling fully established in their gorgeous new homes, retailers will be opening their doors, and Central Park’s ground will have been officially broken, and construction in progress.
University District’s unique combination of urban centrality, fresh architectural design, and abundant amenities has attracted forward-thinking builders with ambitious projects like Avi Urban’s August and their newest signature development Argyle. This development will be a central, dynamic part of the retail district.
With Argyle situated in the thick of the restaurants, coffeeshops, stores and merchants of the central retail district of U/D, it’s fitting to have it add to the multi-use real estate in the area. Argyle will double the already substantial ground level retail space in place at August, Avi’s first U/D project come to life.
While University District curates the retail partners it knows will attract the broad spectrum of life styles and stages it seeks, Avi Urban has been designing a fully integrated, customized and personalized suite purchase process, with the in-building amenities to keep residents comfortable and engaged in their space.

We connected with Kyla Cottom, Marketing Coordinator at Homes by Avi, to hear about Argyle’s plan, and the big factor that will pique the interest of potential residents.
“The biggest difference between Argyle and other multi-family developments is the customization,” Kyla shared. “Every unit sold will be fully customized and styled according to buyers’ individual taste.”
That’s a big deal! While a number of builders include design and finishing selections for single family homes, For the first time Avi Urban is opening the doors of their 6000-square-foot Selections Centre to new condo owners.
What that means is a fully customer driven design process, where new homeowners decide on their finishings, fixtures, colour palette and dozens more options for their new home.
“They’ll do it all in collaboration with our interior design team,” Kyla continues, “They’ll have guidance and input from experienced, award winning professionals during that process.”
University District’s future Central Park.
With an already impressive range of attractive qualities, Argyle will double the main floor retail space of its Avi Urban predecessor, August, and is situated in the bustling central retail district, a stone’s throw from Central Park.
Stack that on top of the private underground parking, common space design, lock and leave amenities, and U/D’s pet friendly philosophy, and the 128 fully personalized condo units are almost the cherry atop the impressive layer cake of Argyle’s brilliant community design.
It’s easy to picture a day in the life at Argyle, with its central location. The 12 kilometres of walking paths are the perfect clear, refreshing start to a day, with a stop for coffee on the way back and a quick bite of brunch once you’re settled back in. Hit up a spin or yoga class, then swing by the wine store for a new Merlot, and do all this by foot, on your own good time!
Speaking of brilliant, Argyle has a special place and time to shine now that it’s making its city wide debut October 26.
University District and Homes by Avi have crafted a day of fun and engagement to celebrate this auspicious day. At the Avi Urban show suite, curious guests can be among the first to lay eyes on Argyle’s freshly constructed show suite.
We’re not content just to show you the unit, though. We’ll have decked out the whole show centre in honour of Argyle’s signature design aesthetic: the diamond.
Snacks and refreshments will be on hand, a chef attended bread tasting station with olive oil and balsamic dips where guests can curate their own flavours, some diamond dusted mocktails served fresh, and some blunted out desserts!
If you’re not content scoping Argyle’s diamonds, craft your own custom jewelry with dedicated attendants (1 per guest, first 120 people) and do it to the dulcet tones of smooth acoustic guitar stylings.
We hope to see you there!
